Invite God In
Have you ever thought to invite Jesus in?
Into the daily moments…
Into the shopping lists…
Into the holiday celebration…
Into the overwhelming emotions…
It sounds obvious but it is so easy to forget. God is everywhere and yet He wants to be invited in to the details of our lives.
James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”
I wonder what would happen this holiday season if we simply invited Jesus in?
Think about the difference it would make in your life to be near to God as you move throughout all the things that need to be done in the next few weeks.
I believe this small act of invitation would create a greater awareness of God and He would come near to us and lead us to experience his love and joy as we do our best to be reflection of Christ in this world.
Inviting God in is not hard. All we need to do is pause, take a few deep breaths, and become aware of our need for Him.
Then, we can offer a simple prayer to God.
-
“God, I am here.
I am grateful for your presence.
I invite you in.
Guide my heart.
Lead me in this moment.
Let me do this with you, and not apart from you.
I want what you want.”
In John 15:5 Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
We have a choice this holiday season - invite God in or do it apart from Him.
Let us invite Jesus into the everyday moments and experience all that He has for us this Christmas.
Seek well,
Tim
