What if this holiday season was your most meaningful yet?
Let’s be honest, the holidays are stressful.
Work parties, holiday shopping, year-end projects, and family gatherings…
All of it can feel overwhelming.
If you are anything like me, the anxiety starts to build around November 2nd and doesn’t end until the last gift is bought and the last party is over.
But, what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if we could be fully present this year and experience what we really long for?
Love and Joy. The peace that only comes from Jesus.
Have you ever thought of taking a few deep breaths? Before the party and the shopping and the family gathering…
What would happen in your heart and mind if you paused to breathe and be present?
Maybe your thoughts would feel more focused and your stress level would come down.
At Seek Well we call this Settling.
It is the process in which we slow our body, mind, and soul before God to receive what He has for us in the moment. It helps us regulate our narratives and emotions and invite God in.
Most importantly, settling helps us to be fully present with God so that we can hear his voice.
-
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
Fully inhale in through your nose.
Fully exhale out through your mouth.
Relax your body by shrugging your shoulders and stretching your neck.
Now, notice where the tension is and how you feel.
Keep breathing…
Now, name the tension and give it to Jesus with a simple prayer:
“Jesus, I give ________ to you. Help me be present and experience you in this moment.” text goes here
Friend, I wonder, how much more meaningful this holiday season would be if we truly learned how to settle?
Think of the peace we would find and the love we could experience.
How joyful it would be to be fully present to those around us and what God is actively doing this holiday season.
If you need help learning to settle, you can practice with the episode on Guided Settling from our podcast below.
Let’s commit to setting this holiday season and experience all that God has for us along the way.
Seek well,
Tim
